Crazy

So a few weeks ago I received an e-mail from someone named Stephan. He told me he had gone through old e-mails and found one from me. He said he had met me in a bar watching a MD game and remembered I was from NJ. He asked if I was still living in NY. Something in my gut told me this was weird. I might not have remembered meeting someone after a night of drinking, but I definitely would have remembered if I e-mailed him. He sent the e-mail to my gmail account so I went to my sent mail and not surprisingly there was no e-mail to this Stephen character. Actually the only people who know my gmail account are my good friends with one exception...the Match stalker from last summer (for new readers you'll want to go back to last year's postings). I debated whether or not to write back to see if I could figure this out. Most people I told selfishly wanted me to for entertainment value alone. While out with a friend last week I was convinced to e-mail "Stephen" and tell him I couldn't remember him so could he send me the e-mail I wrote him. On Friday I did just that.

Today I got a response. It was not a forwarded e-mail. Instead it was a cut and paste of my first e-mail to the stalker!!! How creepy is that?? This means he created an e-mail address and made up this person (first & last name) so he could try and start communicating with me. What do you think he thought would come of this? It's been months!!!

So now that I'm writing I might as well talk about my weekend. Friday night I went out for Melin & Joe's farewell happy hour. Unfortunately I couldn't stay late b/c I had a 10k run early the next morning. I stayed long enough to meet this tool and his two awful friends. Tool works in my bldg and his friend thought his tool friend was sooo cool b/c he works on the 5th floor. Apparently this means the bank thinks he's more important than me since I work on 34. I've heard this before and I'm sure the more important employees are on lower floors, but who brings that up in conversation. The funny thing is that I'm pretty sure the traders are on the 3rd & 4th floor so if this tool was on the 5th then he's the least important of the traders. Anyway, we didn't want to talk to these guys anymore so I told them I didn't think their trivia was interesting. Tool eventually gave up and now I'm praying I don't see him in the cafeteria.

So I ran the 10k. It was pretty painful, but I'm glad I did it. I was convinced I beat my pace from the half and I did, but only by 1 second per mile! After the race I headed to Pearl River with Lauren, Joe, Joe and Melin for Brendan's 2nd birthday. It was so low-key compared to other Brendan celebrations which involved multiple trips to the liquor store. Either we were recovering from the prior night or we're maturing. I'm hoping it's the former.

  1. This is hilarious as usual! Can you elaborate more on the conversation between you and the stalker? You better be careful! Congrats on the 10k! Email me more details!
