So while I write this I am making spicy sausage, peppers and onions. I did some major food shopping in the past week or so and I think I learned my lesson that you should not go food shopping hungry because I overbought and now I feel serious PRESSURE to eat it all. Let me explain. I bought asparagus, which was quickly reaching its expiration date and randomly I bought heavy cream (who buys heavy cream??) so last night I put these ingredients into this delicious quiche. So I had quiche for dinner last night, lunch today and dinner today. Not to mention I brought some in for my sidekick at work, Jeff. Ok so those ingredients were saved. Then I had bought a green pepper & a red pepper last week so I had to makes something with them. Hence, the sausage & peppers. So this will be for lunch & dinner tomorrow. Then at the store yesterday I thought it would be great to get turkey for sandwiches this week and ham for the quiche. Well the guy at the counter messed up and instead of 1/4 lb of each he gave me 1/2 lb of each. I felt bad b/c he was nice so I bought them both, but how in the world am I going to eat a lb of lunch meat before the week is over? My mom is coming on Wed and we're going to dinner so no food will get eaten that night. I also bought 2 big containers of strawberries (2 for $5) and 5 oranges. Seriously, you would think I had a family of 5 that needed to eat. I feel like I waste so much food and it makes me upset. I am going to do everything in my power not to be wasteful.
Oh and to add insult to injury I checked out this week's menu for our cafeteria today and of course everyday there's something I would want. Today was hot dogs!!! and I had to eat my stupid quiche. Figures-next week I prob won't feel like cooking and they'll prob have liver on the menu.
Does anyone have tips for how to grocery shop for one??
